Conferences - 11/14
Team Conferences
Student-Parent Worksheet (print and complete, bring to conference)
Dear parents and guardians of Team Athenian students,
TPJHS will be holding parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday,
November 14th from 11:50am – 2:50pm. This is
a change from former years where a full day was reserved for conferences. In
light of this change, this year your student’s core teachers (Math, English,
History, and Science) will be holding conferences as a team. We will hold these
conferences in Mrs. Mayes’s classroom at TPJHS, located in room 42. If you and
your student would like to participate in this conference, we ask that you
print and complete the linked form prior to November 14th to
have on hand to expedite the experience and ensure that everyone’s time is used
efficiently. Each conference will include all 4 core teachers, yourself, and
your student. It will last no more than 10 minutes.

As a team, we feel blessed to have many successful and driven
students this year. We appreciate the support that you’re giving these students
at home to continue encouraging this behavior. The purpose of the upcoming
conferences is largely to allow parents and teachers to design a plan together
to support specific students who are still striving to find academic and
behavioral success. As such, we ask that if you are not expressly concerned
about your student’s performance in their core classes, and especially if your
student is excelling in 2 or more, that you consider reaching out to individual
teachers by email or phone rather than during district conferences. This will
ensure the short window of time we are provided this year can be used to its
maximum potential.
The core teachers are available for parent meetings on the second
and fourth Thursday of each month from 9:00am-10am. Appointments for a
15-minute meeting can be made by contacting Mrs. Mayes directly. These parent meetings are held
for students who are failing 3 or more core classes. When students are failing
2 or fewer core classes, we suggest the parents and student reach out the
individual teachers via email or phone.
A great way to remain informed about your student’s progress is to
check their TPJHS planner and the Illuminate online portal regularly. These
resources are promoted school-wide and can keep you very updated about current
assignments, behaviors, and grades. Many teachers use websites or Google
Classroom in addition, which students can access around the clock.
In short, we love seeing you and praising the successes of your
students, but on parent-teacher conference day when our time is especially
short, we would prefer to be able to strategize on behalf of everyone’s
success. Thank you for working with us to support this goal!
We appreciate you!
Respectfully,
Team Athenian Teachers
