Each student has had their reading goal generated by the Accelerated Reader program. Their current level was created using data from the benchmark STAR reading test the students took during the second week of school. The goal was then determined with the understanding that each student is reading for 15 minutes a day at or above their current level.
Students earn points towards their goal by reading books with Accelerated Reader tags from the school library. Students check if their book has a quiz by visiting ARBookFind.com. The quizzes are usually 3-5 points each, with some more challenging books boasting quizzes in the 8-12 range.
Once students finish reading a book, they can visit the library to take an AR quiz and earn the associated points. Following the quiz, the program will inform the student of how many points remain towards their goal.
Reading goals must be met or exceeded by the end of Semester 1 (1/18/19). This will count as a project score in the grade book (20% weighted category).

Ms. Harmon I MAY have lost my library books somewhere in the school. I am just not SURE where. I asked student services and they said the books might be at the library. I am still not sure because I haven't been able to check at the library.
ReplyDeleteMadeline - We'll track them down (Nancy Drew is on the case!) and/or speak with the librarian. They'll show up! :)
