7th Grade Team Athenian Animal Conservation Project

Objective:
I will research an animal, its habitat, its legacy, and its status in the world. I will then asses the progress humankind has made conserving this species for future generations. Finally, I will create a presentation of my research to display in a gallery with my peers.

Project:
Create a visual that displays the information you gathered from research. You may choose a poster, a Powerpoint or Google Slideshow, an essay with graphics, or a flipbook.
Your research must include:
·         3 sources (at least 1 in print/paper)
·         Information about the animal, its habitat, basic and interesting facts, the risks it faces currently, conservation measures being taken, and a projected outlook.

Timeline:
3/30 – field trip to The Living Desert Museum to complete a STEAM activity and get preliminary information on species of interest and conservation techniques.
            4/11 – Must have chosen an animal and signed up for it 
            on Mrs. Woolever’s list: https://carmen415.typeform.com/to/pxBSJ2
4/23 – Research check-in: must have 3 sources and 3-5 bullet points from each source with Mrs. Mayes
            5/7 – Project due in Ms. Harmon’s class
            5/15 – Gallery of student presentations during assembly rotation
            5/16 – Reflection from gallery walk due in Mr. Cottrell’s class

Grading:
            This project will be worth 100 points, divided amongst your core classes.
