A soliloquy is a speech given by a character alone on stage. The character appears to be thinking aloud and revealing thoughts, plans, or feelings.
A monologue is a speech directed at another character.
Lesson: Reading "The Tempest" in the textbook, page 145-146 and notes on Shakespearean English (see attached image)

I will analyze an autobiography and explain the author's purpose.

Bellwork: copy this information into today's bellwork space-
An autobiography is an account of the author’s own life. They almost always are told from the first-person point of view using the pronouns I and me. They focus on the most significant events/people over a period of time in the author’s life, using cause and effect to show connections. The purpose is usually not purely informational but to shed light on an influential time or issue. You usually have to infer the purpose based on what the author reveals.
Lesson: Create Collection 3 Academic Vocab page in your IAN with the words/definitions from page 142 and the vocab words from "The Narrative of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave" (pages 143-147)

Begin reading pages 143-147 and discussing.
